Date published: 17 July 2008

Rochdale will become the Feel Good capital on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 July, when the Feel Good festival on The Butts plays host to a variety of activities and treats that the Council believes will have everyone feeling absolutely fabulous.

With cookery demonstrations from Ready Steady Cook’s Lesley Waters and BBC Fusion chef Aazam Ahmad, the On Your Marks, Get Set, Cook! competition, quality food market, diet and training tips from the Rochdale Hornets rugby team, plus a huge selection of street theatre including tap dancing turkeys and teach yourself to salsa, there are plenty of reasons to get down to the Butts next weekend. There will also be numerous kids activities to get involved in

South Parade will see a complete healthy food takeover, where a whole host of fresh produce, from dry cured bacon and ham to honey, lamb, mutton, goat, venison and game and farm house cheeses. Asian catering and a Polish beer bar will also be present.

Debbie O’Brien from Rochdale Town Centre Management can’t wait for the event to come round. She said: “We’re all very excited about the Feel Good festival and we can’t wait for it to finally come around. Rochdale provides a fantastic backdrop for live entertainment and there will be something for every generation to see and enjoy.

“This event will really prove to you all that you can have fun and feel good at the same time!”

Darren Shaw, Coach of Rochdale Hornets rugby team, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be involved with the ‘Feel Good’ event. Our players have to choose a healthy lifestyle so that they can perform at the highest level, but it’s really important that everyone eats well and takes regular exercise.

“Hopefully the Feel Good event will encourage people to see that it’s not that difficult to make a few small changes and feel better pretty quickly.”
