Dance festival spirals into town centre
Date published: 15 July 2008
Visitors to Rochdale town centre were treated to an array of fine dancing this afternoon (Tuesday 15 July) as they enjoyed the ‘Inside Out’ dance festival at the Town Hall.
School children from across Rochdale took part in the event, which was organised by Spiral Dance.
The dancers took up positions across the town centre and gave two performances to members of the public who were given a tour of all of the groups.
Pupils from Falinge Park, Redwood, Oulder Hill, Cardinal Langley, Castleton primary and Matthew Moss schools, as well as Hollingworth and Middleton college students, all took part
After the outdoor performances the dancers took to the Town Hall to perform in a dance showcase, with performances from each school.
Spiral Dance’s Faye Rettie said: “Inside Out has been an excellent experience for the young people involved. They have had the opportunity to work with professional dance teachers and create and perform their own choreography. Let’s hope Spiral Dance can host a similar project next year.”
