More threatening emails sent to schools
Date published: 28 March 2018
Threatening emails have been sent to schools again
Threatening emails have been sent to a number of schools across Greater Manchester - for the second time in less than a fortnight.
A spokesman for the National Crime Agency said: “We are aware of new reports of threats made to schools and are liaising with partners in law enforcement and the education sector.”
A 19-year old man was arrested arrested in Watford, Hertfordshire on 21 March, on suspicion of blackmail and making malicious communications by email after hundreds of schools across the country, including in Rochdale, were hit by hoax bomb threats on 19 March.
The National Crime Agency, which headed up the investigation, took the communications 'extremely seriously', but said there was ‘no credible threat’ from the emails.
That applies again this time, it has been confirmed.
