Strike action forces swimming pool closures
Date published: 14 July 2008
Strike action by council workers this Wednesday and Thursday (16 and 17 July) has forced the closure of the swimming pools in Heywood and Middleton. The strikes will also affect services at Heywood Sports Complex and the Local Studies centre at Touchstones.
The town's leisure facilities are run by Link4Life and some members of staff are joining the strike, which will cause some disruption to services. Link4Life have apologised for any inconvenience this may cause.
Heywood Sports Complex will only open from 5pm-10pm and only the All Weather Pitch, Sports Hall and Fitness Suite will be in operation.
Touchstones will be open as usual but Local Studies will be closed.
All other Link4Life facilities will be open as usual, these include: Central Leisure Centre, Furrow Sports Complex, Heywood Civic Centre, Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre, Littleborough Sports Centre, Marland Golf Course, Middleton Civic Centre, Middleton Leisure Centre and Contours and Springhill Sports Centre.
