Littleborough community conservation day

Date published: 08 July 2008

This Saturday (12 July) Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale are holding a Community Conservation Day at Summit Nature Site on Todmorden Road.

Having had a fantastic time with the pupils of Stansfield Hall Primary School on World Environment Day, Groundwork are now inviting the community to take part in similar activities such as; willow weaving, balsam bashing, nature trails, a gardening workshop and face painting.

Vicky Goring, Voluntary Project Assistant at Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, said: “We hope this Community Conservation Day will inspire local residents to continue using and caring for the nature site in future years. Summit is a fantastic place to escape our busy lives and spend time outside in the fresh air engaging with nature.”

Katy Lloyd, Project Officer, Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, said: “This is an excellent initiative building on the success of the workshops with Stansfield Hall Primary School, to not only improve the nature site itself, but to also increase community engagement with the site.”

The Community Conservation Day starts at 11:00am on Saturday with refreshments available from the Summit Inn. By increasing community engagement with the site Groundwork hope more local residents will use it on a regular basis.
