Beech House School

Date published: 07 December 2017

Four students from Beech House - Charlie Egerton, Tasmin Ali, Jasmine Slater and Jessica Nuttall - were chosen to represent the school at Hollingworth Lake, taking part in activities such as archery, rock climbing and mountain biking.

Charlie excelled in the archery, hitting multiple bullseyes. He and Jess also cycled miles around Hollingworth Lake, taking part in different adventure courses along the trail.

Tasmin and Jasmine faced their fears and climbed up the rock wall. They also showed great determination on the mountain bikes.

Nine pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 were asked to represent the school in an indoor athletics event against other local primary schools.

Zidan Ilhali and Harry Hurst-Grover performed excellently in their one lap relay, followed by the two lap relay by Zak Gorton-Rigg and Emaan Malek.

Aidan Peters-Ali and Aaron Waddington ran a six lap paarlauf relay, as well as Xander Zebedee-Howard, Aaron Waddington, Aidan Peters-Ali and Harry Hurst-Grover running a separate relay.

We were very impressed with the performance of Emily Higginson and Tierney Dutton as they were the only girls from Beech House in the event. They took part in triple jump and a number of other field events.

The pupils behaved admirably and professionally and we are looking forward to receiving the final results.

Many pupils saw their short stories in print this term. These pupils were Fatima Afzal, Hafsa Ahmed, Maria Hussain, Jibreel Muwahl, Yumna Rana, Jasmine Salman, Hayder Shahzad, Saud Tabbassam and Yahya Tahir.

As part of their English work, Reception and Year 1 have been learning to write letters. They put this to good use writing to Father Christmas which they then posted at the post box.

Pupil of the Week Certificates were awarded to:

Year 3 - Maria Hussein

Year 4 - Lauren El-Hage

Year 5 - Aayan Malik

Year 6 - Zak Gorton-Rigg

Anique Ali was awarded his Bronze Certificate for 20 merits.
