Date published: 28 November 2017
A woman had to be cut from a car by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service crews using specialist cutting equipment following a collision between two cars in Castleton shortly after 12 noon on Tuesday (28 November).
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed the road is blocked following the collision between a red and silver car close to the junction of Royle Barn Road. The road is believed to be closed from Royle Barn Road to the railway station.
The fire service sent one engine from Rochdale and one from Littleborough, a Technical Response Unit from Leigh and an Enhanced Rescue Unit from Leigh. They were on scene for approximately two hours.
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance said: “We were called at 12.04pm to reports of an RTC. We sent two ambulances, two rapid response units and the helicopter. It looks as though two patients have been involved. Currently, one ambulance has taken a patient to Salford Royal and the others are all on scene.”
