Reuse Littleborough's Michael Bamford braved the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support
Local charity Reuse Littleborough raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support with a sponsored head shave at Hare Hill House's Macmillan Coffee Morning on Saturday 30 September.
Michael Bamford, who runs Reuse Littleborough – a charity entirely run by volunteers at Stevenson Square in Smallbridge who aim to reuse many everyday items that would otherwise end up in the bin – was amongst those who braved the shave.
Mr Bamford said: “Macmillan is a charity close to my heart and I fully support their dedication. My supporters at Reuse Littleborough were handed a big thank you. I was also supported by my grandson, Austin.
He added: “My hair will grow back, hopefully.”
The group are on target to raise £1,000 in total.
Macmillan’s ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same.
The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, they did it again the next year – only this time nationally.
Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £165.5 million for Macmillan.
