Council awards are your chance to say thank you
Date published: 01 July 2008
Rochdale Council is on the look out for examples of 5 star service from its employees for the Customer Service Awards 2008.
Residents from across the town who have experienced excellent customer service from any of the authority’s workforce are being encouraged to recognise their efforts by nominating them for an award.
The council wants to hear about staff who have given exceptional service, done something innovative or impressed you in the way they’ve carried out their duties.
Ann Wardle, head of Customer Services at the council, said: “We’re looking for those who go that bit further and deliver a fantastic service. This is your opportunity to let us know when you think we have got it right and excelled. The Customer Service Awards acknowledge effort and ensure our individuals or teams are recognised. I urge everyone to consider nominating someone to ensure they get the appreciation they deserve.”
Council Leader Alan Taylor said the awards are about recognising the valuable contribution that staff make: “Our staff provide more than 800 types of services for local people, many of which involve regular face to face contact with residents. Whether it's a school crossing patrol person who cheers you up every morning, someone who’s gone out of their way to assist you, or a gardener who regularly takes the time to check up on an older resident – we want to hear from you. All of these little things count, and compliments are just as important as complaints in measuring our services to residents. We welcome compliments as we are constantly aiming to wow our customers."
To nominate, you can pick up a form from most council buildings, including any customer service centre, council office, library or leisure centre. Alternatively you can get the form from www.rochdale.gov.uk/awards
The address for postal nominations is Customer Service Awards 2008, c/o Sue Percy, Rochdale Council, Haynes Street, Rochdale, OL12 OEX.
The closing date for nominations is 1 August. The Customer Service Awards 2008 will be staged at Rochdale Town Hall in October.
