Listen up, be part of the Big Listen 2008
Date published: 01 July 2008
Children and young people across Rochdale can have their say about the environment later this year by being part of The Big Listen.
It is the biggest opportunity of the year for youngsters of all ages to get together to speak out about their lives, hopes and concerns. Dozens of events and workshops will take place in schools, children’s centres and community venues over a whole week in November.
Organised by Rochdale Sure Start’s Children’s Empowerment Project, The Big Listen gives young people the chance to talk to each other as well as representatives of agencies who provide services for them.
This year the theme is the Environment and The Big Listen will take place over the week of November 17 – 22 to coincide with Anti-Bullying Week.
Children’s Empowerment Manager, Helen Wensley said: “We want organisations which work with children and young people to put the date in their diaries now and start thinking about how they can get involved in The Big Listen. They can contact us to register their interest and we will get back to them with further information.
“The environment locally and globally is a major issue right now and we know that children and young people have strong views on the subject. This is their chance to have a say on something vital to their future within Rochdale.”
