The new funding includes a grant award of £42,679 to Skylight Circus in Education, over three years, to deliver circus skills classes to disabled children and young people who are living in areas of deprivation and isolated in Rochdale. The classes give the children and young people the chance to enjoy new experiences and activities such as juggling, plate spinning, balancing, trapeze, tightrope, aerial swings and harness amongst other things which encourage independence, relaxation and creativity and sensory engagement.

Martine Bradford, project co-ordinator at Skylight Circus in Education, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded with this funding from BBC Children in Need, which will enable us to make a positive impact on the children and young people that we work with who facing disability and isolation, as well as living in areas of high deprivation.

Rochdale Connections Trust has been awarded £181,219, over three years, to deliver support services to children and young people that have been affected by domestic abuse. By providing weekly support interventions through a fun programme of activities the project aims to help build the children and young people’s confidence, improve their emotional well-being and raise their aspirations for the future.
