School crossing officers rack up long service awards

Date published: 13 July 2017

Four school crossing patrol officers have clocked up a combined 45 years’ service.

Robert Cooper, Helen Cowan and James McCan received their 10 years’ service award while Patricia Devall received her 15 years’ service award from school crossing patrol supervisor Nicola Mcilvenny.

Nicola was pleased to be able to hand out the awards, she said: “This is a fantastic achievement for all of them and we are so lucky to have such dedicated patrols in our borough. All our school crossing officers work hard and children enjoying seeing them at the start and end of their school day.”

Councillor Neil Emmott, portfolio holder for environment, congratulated the fab four: “What an achievement, well done Robert, Helen, James and Patricia. For children school crossing patrols are an integral part of their school experience, you should be very proud of how long you have worked in this role.”

The council currently provides 53 crossing patrols across the borough.
