RBH accredited to CIH Neighbourhood Working Charter

Date published: 12 July 2017

Mutual housing society Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) has become one of the first in the country to have its neighbourhood working frameworks accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

RBH has been accredited through the new charter, which looks at how efficient, effective and responsive a housing provider’s services are in its neighbourhoods or operating areas. In total eleven housing providers have been working with CIH Consultancy over the past 18 months to develop and pilot the new charter and accreditation.

Clare Tostevin, RBH Director of Communities, said: "We're delighted to have the work that we do in our communities recognised, and we'll be using this accreditation to make sure that we continue to improve our services for our members, tenants and neighbourhoods.

"Adopting our Neighbourhoods Together approach has brought all our housing and community management disciplines together, tailored to the needs of each neighbourhood.

"This enables us to target our resources more efficiently and measure our impact more effectively. As a mutual, this approach enables RBH to increase our members’ influence in decision making at a local level.”

The accreditation process is carried out by CIH Consultancy and the accreditation lasts for three years.
