Ambition for Ageing working in Smallbridge and Firgrove

Date published: 07 July 2017

Ambition for Ageing is a project led by older people for older people working across Smallbridge and Firgrove, Central Rochdale and West Middleton.

Mafooz Bibi said: “Our aim is to improve the lives of older people (aged 50+) by finding out what is already good about where they live and what can be improved. By investing in small changes, we hope to make places more ‘age friendly’ and improve the wellbeing and participation of older people in the community.

“Ambition for Ageing will invest in good ideas to help make our communities better places to grow older in. There are local steering groups in each area which identify local priorities and consider the community investment applications.”

The following needs have been identified for the Smallbridge & Firgrove area to make general improvements to the green spaces and tidy up the Buckley View and Low Hill areas of Smallbridge:

  • Planters at the top of Buckley View, Smallbridge
  • Planter on the walkway at the back of Low Hill bus stop, Smallbridge

Mafooz Bibi said: “Your project needs to be sustainable so it can carry on after our funding ends; it should demonstrate continuity and preferably work with local schools and organisations in the area.

“There is funding available of up to £2,000 to support the above activities and we welcome applications from interested individuals, organisations or service providers in supplying this service.”

For more information or to request an application form, please contact Mafooz on 01706 630140 or email: mafooz@kyp.org.uk

The deadline for applications for this round of investments is Monday 17 July 2017.

Shortlisted proposals will be put to the vote at an event on Monday 31 July 2017.
