Surprise book signing and cocktail evening for Lillian Jones

Date published: 06 July 2017

Anne Marshall surprised her mum, Lillian Jones, with a cocktail evening with a twist at Bojangles Theatre on Saturday 1 July.

Following the publication of 86-year-old Lillian’s poetry book, ‘Poems by Lillian Jones’, Anne decided to throw a surprise book signing with all their family and friends and members of the local community.

Guests were treated to a fun night with dancers on stage, a soul performance by Babaloa, a ‘play your cards right’ set from volunteer Richy and a swing set from Jack Howard.

Anne, who runs Middleton Popstars, said: “It was fab. We feel we owed her some fun as she gave her life to her family with 11 children and never had time to do it.

“Mum was so shocked but it was nice to see her writing her autograph. She loved it though and I’m very proud of her.”

Lillian’s poetry book is based on her life as a young girl as she grew up and is available from Middleton Popstars.
