The Enhanced Project first birthday

Date published: 05 July 2017

The Enhance Project was opened a year ago on 4 July 2016; working with complex needs clients, the project is part of Brentwood Middleton Day Centre.

For the short time, the project has been open it has proved its need and has some very successful outcomes, with numerous clients in the Middleton area.

Bev Vernon, team leader, said: “At present, referrals come from Brentwood Middleton Day Centre, until we get established more, hopefully The Enhance Project will grow, so that we may be able to take referrals from other agencies across the borough, that is our aim.

“The Enhance Project is a very important project for those clients that are complex, in regard to those that are homeless, on the verge of homelessness, suffer with mental health issues, drug and alcohol addiction, gambling addiction, learning difficulties, debt, financial abuse, physical and verbal abuse, lonely and isolated.

“We are able to spend the time with the client and go through the journey with them, this means, we are able to contact other agencies, and refer to, such as Drug and Alcohol Services, GP, Hospitals, Mental Health Services, Adult Safeguarding Team, Housing, Debt Companies, Dentist.

“We can also socially include, the clients by supporting them to support groups at other organisations, regarding; health and nutrition, managing debt, cooking on a budget and living well courses, we also have the time to do basic computer courses, for those that suffer with learning difficulties.

“The greatest of all is that staff are able to attend appointments, and other organisations, and help to build self-esteem and confidence, with the client, so that they do not feel alone and on their own.

“We are so excited for the future of The Enhance Project, but more excited for what it can achieve for the clients.

“I would like to thank Rochdale borough Housing, Adults Safeguarding Rochdale, Homelessness Rochdale, Durnford Street GP Practise Middleton, Rochdale Road GP Practise Middleton, North Manchester General Hospital, Community Drugs and Alcohol Team Rochdale, Voluntary Aid In Sickness Middleton, Burnside Community Centre Middleton, Steve at Triple A Townley Street Middleton.

“For any person, that may be reading this article, donations are always welcome, food, clothes, and money.
