St Mary's summer scorcher raises £1,000

Date published: 04 July 2017

The sun shone on St Mary's CE Primary School's summer fair at the weekend - helping raise £1,000 for school funds.

Hundreds of parents and children flocked to the school on Oldham Road in the sizzling sunshine to enjoy all the fun - from face painting and fancy cakes to craft stalls to Pimms in the school yard.

Headteacher Garry Johnson said: "The heavens opened last year so it was a bit of a washout. This year the sun was blazing and we have raised at least £1,000. Every penny will be spent on the kids."

Local Balderstone councillor and council leader Richard Farnell joined in the festivities organised by the Friends of St Mary's Primary School.

He said: It was so good to see so many parents and children supporting the summer fair. St Mary's is a great school and it delivers a first class education for local children. There is always something going on and I am always happy to lend my support."
