Jonathan Taylor charged after ‘racially aggravated’ assault on Packer Street

Jonathan Taylor has been charged with section 20 assault and a racially aggravated public order offence after a serious assault in Rochdale town centre on Friday (30 June).
Shortly after 11.40pm on Friday 30 June 2017, police were alerted by paramedics to a report that a man had been assaulted on Packer Street, Rochdale.
A man in his 30s was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital after being punched in the face, where he remains in a serious condition.
Taylor, 32, of no fixed address, was remanded to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday (3 July).
He has been remanded under conditions, including an electronic curfew between 8pm and 7am, to sleep at an address on Entwisle Road and to not enter any public house in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale.
The trial will take place on 31 August.
