Rochdale In Bloom (RIB) is running a photography competition to coincide with the North West In Bloom 2017 competition in August.

Vice chairman of RIB, Roy Down said: "We have been very fortunate to secure the services of Rochdale contemporary artist John Cooke. John has kindly agreed to judge the competition and offer his expertise to the RIB committee."

John Cooke said: "The competition is not about photographic excellence, because we are looking for entries from the general public, whether it is using a mobile phone, pocket camera, tablet or dslr."

"We will be looking for composition, even quirkiness, either in colour or black and white."

The competition is open from the end of June until the 21 July.

Mr Down added: "We would welcome photos of Rochdale's rich heritage, especially in the town centre, floral features from around the Borough, plus any photos of Rochdale's wildlife and natural surroundings."

There are prizes for the top three photos and the top ten will be displayed in the Town Centre on North West In Bloom judging day.
