The 14th consecutive Darnhill Festival, organised by Cartwheel Arts, took place on Saturday.

Mayoress Christine Duckworth took part, and was later joined by Mayor Ian Duckworth, who had been at Cutgate Community Centre renaming ceremony.

The procession set off at 12 noon from Argyle Parade with a Samba band leading the procession, with Mayoress Christine Duckworth and past Mayor Ray Dutton acting as her escort. Oakenhoof Folk Arts were clog dancing at the end of the procession.

Mayoress Duckworth said: “The procession was really colourful and vibtrant. Congratulations to everyone who took part, thank you for all your hard work, it has got the festival off to a great start.

“The day has taken months of planning by Darnhill Festival Association and Cartwheel Arts and its wonderful to see it all come together today.”

The theme for the festival was 'Space', in honour of the launch of the first satellite, Sputnik in 1957.
