A Tegestologist is someone who collects beer mats, and for this season, the Dale Supporters Trust are launching their own beer mat.

Beer mats have been a staple feature in pubs now for almost 100 years, but this will be the first time ever that one will promote the Dale.

The beer mat is a new initiative aimed at raising the profile of the Trust around town, and also attractting new members. It is believed to be the first Football Supporters' Trust to launch a beer mat.

The beer mat was launched on Wednesday evening, before the Trust's Quiz Night in the Flying Horse, in nthe presence of Geoff Kindon, a trustee of the British Beer Mat Collectors' Society.

Mr Kindon is a Dale Trust member, and a face recognisable to many Dale supporters.

A Trust spokesperson said: "It is hoped that the beer mats will be a seen at pubs on a match day throughout the next season."
