Jan Powell new Middleton Rotary Club President
Date published: 21 June 2017
Jan Powell is the new Middleton Rotary Club President. Jan was handed the chain of office by outgoing President Ged Heatherington on Monday evening.
It was also the club’s AGM, which was held as a reflection of the work carried out throughout the last Rotary year.
It has been a busy year for the club with fundraising events including a whisky night, race night and of course the annual Santa float collection at Christmas. The club raised over £10,000 throughout the year.
Most of these funds are ploughed back into local worthy causes and trying to encourage local talent, whilst the club also supports projects of a more international status such as water projects in Kenya, a primary school in Kenya as well as the Rotary wide project of Polio Plus aimed at the eradication of Polio worldwide.
President Jan said: “I hope we achieve more of the same next year, I look forward to the support of Rotarians in making it a fun filled but busy year.”
This will be Jan’s second term as President of Middleton, and she will be assisted in her role by the incoming Vice President, Kit Wellens."
Outgoing President Ged said: “It has been a busy and pleasing year, where every member of the club has got involved to help our plans reach fruition and I thank you all for your help in this.”
