Healey Care Ltd celebrates 21 years
It was standing room only at Holtmill as past and present service users and staff of Healey Care celebrated 21 years of providing support on Saturday.
Healey Care was started by Malachy McElleron with Healey House Whitworth in 1996, the service has now grown and now has four residential houses, three supported living houses, day service and a respite service providing support for nearly 50 service users.
Malachy died in 2014 and his wife Diane took up the running of the company with the support of thier son, Conor.
The longest resident of Healey House, Michael Golden, was presented with a gift - Michael has been living there for over 20 years.
Long service awards were presented to staff with Stuart Greenwood, 20 years, the longest member of staff still with the company, and various others ranging from 19 years to 10 years.
The Mayor of Whitworth, Alan Neal, and Mayoress Janet Neal enjoyed afternoon tea.
There was a picture quiz of service users, staff and celebrities when they were babies, a timeline with pictures of all service users and staff from when it first opened, and cards from past service users’ parents wishing the company Birthday wishes.
The afternoon came to a close with the candles lit and a rendition of ‘happy birthday’.
