Alice Murphy creates striking ten-foot tall art installation

Date published: 09 June 2017

22-year-old Alice Murphy, a BA (Hons) Fine Art student from Rochdale, has created a ten-foot-tall painting installation for Nottingham Trent University’s 2017 Degree Show.

The artwork from black and white inks is on lining paper which is normally used in decorating.

Alice said: “My work is an exploration of the materials and how I can manipulate them. To make it I had to find a way of manufacturing marks that looked accidental, which meant I had to control the ink as it flowed.”

Alice’s work is set to go on public exhibition for the show from 3 to 10 June. The show is one of the largest exhibitions of student work in the UK, it showcases the talent of more than 1,200 graduating artists and designers.
