Miss England semi-finalist Gwen Raby signed to GModels agency

Date published: 02 June 2017

Rochdale’s Gwen Raby, who will be competing in the Miss England semi-finals this weekend, has signed to the GModels agency.

Gwen signed last week and modelled at the Southport Fashion Weekend between 19-21 May.

She won the title of Miss Charity Lancashire in 2016/17 after she raised £1,500 for Variety the Children’s Charity through several events, including a sponsored abseil down Rochdale Town Hall clock tower, a Fashion-Aid catwalk event and a ticket event with live singers.

Gwen will be taking part in the semi-finals of Miss England at Kelham Hall in Nottingham on Sunday (4 June) and has raised £1,200 so far for their charity of choice, Beauty with a Purpose.

Formerly known as the Miss World Scholarship, the funds go towards helping disadvantaged children worldwide.

The 18-year-old, who studies Musical Theatre at Pendleton College, is excited about Sunday’s semi-final and will be taking part in the following rounds: publicity, eco, public vote, charity and interview round.

Other places in the grand final will be the judges’ choice.

Gwen has also been promoting her ‘Big Up Sista’ campaign to promote positive body image and self-esteem, especially in young girls.

She said: “If I win Miss England, this is something I would focus on by using my title to further promote how strongly I believe the younger generation should believe in themselves.

“I’m working on a campaign promotional video to be released on Sunday and a support page, where I will be updating different ways of finding self-love and believing in yourself. This was a no make-up campaign video to show that even ‘beauty queens have flaws’ and we should be proud to be different.”

You can vote for Gwen to win by texting 'MISS SEMIFINAL25' to 63333 - costs 50p.
