Odeon Rochdale supports those affected by terror attack

Date published: 02 June 2017

Over a dozen cinema sites across the Greater Manchester region, including Odeon Rochdale, will next week show their support for the victims and families of those affected by the terrorist attack in the city through a co-ordinated programme of fund-raising screenings.

All ticket proceeds from the screenings - which will take place on the evening of Monday 5 June at Odeon Rochdale at 7.00 pm – will go towards the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, set up by the Red Cross in the aftermath of last week’s events.

Cinema companies including Odeon, Cineworld, Vue, Showcase, Empire, The Light, Reel and AMC Cinemas will all hold fund-raising screenings of the new Wonder Woman movie at their Manchester sites, with the film’s distributor Warner Bros. Pictures also generously agreeing to offer up its share of box office income.

In addition, the two screen advertising agencies, DCM and Pearl & Dean, will donate their advertising revenue.

Commenting on the plans, Paul Lindsay, General Manager of the AMC Manchester, whose team first came up with the idea, said: “We wanted to show the support of all those working at Manchester cinemas - and of the wider UK cinema industry – for all of those whose lives were touched by last week’s horrific attack.

"We are proud to make our contribution to such a worthy cause and are grateful to Warner Bros. colleagues for their generous support.”

Tickets for these screenings will be available in the usual way from the relevant company websites, and each site will be making collecting boxes available throughout the day for those who want to donate additional funds.

All proceeds from these screenings will go to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund set up by Manchester City Council in partnership with the British Red Cross to support those affected by the Manchester attack and their families.
