Launch of Whiz Kids at Rochdale Exchange

Date published: 01 June 2017

Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre officially launched its new kids’ club during the school holidays with free Nobel Prize-themed fun and games.

The shopping centre hosted its first Whiz Kids session of the summer on Wednesday, inviting children of all ages to learn all about the Nobel Peace Prize with everything from dove making and treasure hunts to the chance to meet sensational characters Norman Nobel and Judy Cator.

Lorenzo O’Reilly, Centre Manager at Rochdale Exchange, said: “This was the first of five Whiz Kids events and we are so pleased that it was such a huge success, with lots of children coming along to take part.

“Throughout the day, mini-experts were given workbooks to help them along the way in becoming fully-fledged whiz kids by the end of the summer,.

“To be rewarded with a Rochdale Exchange Peace Prize medal, youngsters had the chance to make peace doves, learn all about famous prize winners, complete the wordsearch and take a tour around the centre to find the hidden doves.

“Once all tasks had been completed, children had the chance to take a photo with their award to stick in their workbook.”

The centre’s Whiz Kids will take place on various Wednesdays throughout the summer with five free education-filled crafts, games and activities with themes including peace, physics, medicine, chemistry and literature.
