Tony Lloyd opens new Labour campaign offices in Rochdale

Date published: 17 May 2017

Tony Lloyd, Labour's candidate for Rochdale, opened the new Labour campaign offices in Rochdale on Monday watched by 100 party members.

Mr Lloyd said: "Our new offices will be the nerve centre of our campaign to win Rochdale for the Labour Party.

"We face a tough fight, but I have been overwhelmed by the hundreds of volunteers who are working hard to get our message across to the voters.

"The fight in Rochdale is between Labour and the Conservatives. No other candidate can win here.

"And do we really want a Tory MP representing The town and another five years of a Tory government? What has Rochdale done to deserve that?

"This government has penalised towns like Rochdale with massive cuts while their friend in the Tory shires have been given more.

"Essential services for children, the elderly and disabled have faced massive cuts as the Tories have axed £200 million from vital public services.

"Our young people struggle to find work and end up up thousands in debt after leaving university. Our hospitals are in crisis and our elderly are denied decent care in their old age.

"We need an effective Labour MP who will stand up for the town and not drag it down.

"We need an experienced MP who fight for local people put Rochdale first at all times.

"I will be that MP. Working hard for residents, fighting for better schools, hospitals and more jobs.

"Rochdale needs a Labour MP fighting for the many, not the few."
