£10k cash boost available to help green Greater Manchester

Date published: 14 May 2017

City of Trees has teamed up with TD for the fourth year running to offer community groups and organisations a chance to bid for a £10,000 funding pot.

The TD Green Streets programmes offers a £10,000 grant to groups or organisations to deliver innovative urban forestry projects including planting street trees, creating community orchards or establishing new woodlands.

Communities across Greater Manchester are being invited to develop ideas for urban forestry projects, aiming to bring a touch of nature to our towns and cities.

Previous winning projects have included a 4,000 tree new community woodland created on a former landfill site, as well as an innovative ‘food forest’ in hospital grounds.

Kevin Wigley, Community Forest Trust, comments: “This funding empowers communities to come up with inspired urban greening initiatives that bring a much-needed touch of green to our towns and cities.

“We are really looking forward to seeing the range of ideas that come forward and with the support of TD, can help bring the best to life, benefitting local communities.”

The deadline for applications is 31 August 2017.
