Date published: 09 May 2017

Hopwood Primary School are taking part in this year’s Singing Challenge which celebrates parks and open spaces, championing the benefits they can bring to health, recreation and community spirit.

They will be singing in Broadfield Park as schools across Greater Manchester unite in song on the Tuesday 23 May at 2.15pm performing live in nine parks representing all of the nine Music Services.

Mary Green and Julie Stanley from Out of the Ark Music have written the fantastic new song for this year’s GM Hub Singing Challenge, titled “Go To The Park” which encourages children to think about all the different fun activities they can do there, as well as reminding them of the changing seasons and of the wildlife they may see there.

This Singing Challenge is a fantastic way for primary schools to have fun with singing and celebrate parks and open spaces.

All 710 primary schools across the region have received a free CD ROM containing everything they need to learn and get the most out of the song ‘Go To The Park’ as well as Out of the Ark’s fantastic Words on Screen™ v2 technology, where the lyrics synchronize with the music, making it so much easier to teach and learn the song.

The Greater Manchester Music Education Hub (GM Hub), is a collaboration of nine local music services, consisting of Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan and a further twelve partners.

This inspirational partnership aims to enable all children, including the most vulnerable to enjoy high quality music making which promotes self-confidence, ambition and achievement.

To this end the GM Hub has established an annual singing challenge for all primary schools across the region, and for the second year has joined forces with Out of the Ark Music to produce something very specific for this year’s GM Hub Singing Challenge.

Out of the Ark Music are renowned for producing songs for primary school and early years’ settings, that are thought provoking, relevant and most of all great fun to sing.
