Amelia Fenwick and Freya Willman, of St Johns CE Thornham Primary School, won first prize for their decorated wooden crosses as part of the Manchester passion celebrations in April 2017.

The theme was Jesus - Hope for all and the crosses made by he children from years three to six were judged by a British artist Daphne Stephenson and Baroness Williams of Trafford.

Hilary Purser, St John's CE Thornham Primary School, said: “The judges thought the cross was sensitively decorated with symbols of The Holy Spirit and The Christian fish symbol. They also like the children of the world drawn around the world, and the three crosses.”

Second prize was awarded to Nico Squibbs Chapman and Max Wild’s cross.

Ms Purser said: “The judges liked the words ‘Peace makes people best friends’. They thought it was beautifully and sensitively decorated.”
