Trip to the Isle of Man - report from pupils

With all the suitcases crammed into the mini bus there was just enough room for the students to get in. A smooth journey down the M62 was followed by a swift embankment onto the SeaCat.

The journey would last almost 3 hours, but reserved seats, play dough and some fantastic views meant that time flew by.

A short mini bus ride from Douglas ferry port to the venture centre meant that the real adventure could begin, but not before an early night.

Year 8 pupils at Manchester Art Gallery

Year 8 pupils had a wonderful day out to view some of the exciting exhibitions held at the Manchester Art Gallery. The most popular exhibitions with our pupils happened to be “Jai Redman: Paradise Lost” in this exhibition, Redman combines modern materials with a passion for traditional painting techniques and the works of the old masters.

The second Exhibition was by the artist “Wynford Dewhurst: Manchester’s Monet” who was the first retrospective of the English impressionist painter and art theorist. Wynford Dewhurst is most famous for his 1908 work The Picnic. Pupils also viewed works by some of the greatest artists, from the romantic art of Turner to the sumptuous colours of the Pre-Raphaelites. They looked at the artistic developments of the 20th century and the Japanese design in a dynamic display conveying the essence of the unique Japanese design ethos.
