Heidi Mooney wins Kindness Award
Date published: 19 April 2017
Heidi Mooney, aged nine, was chosen to be the recipient of the Denise Webb Kindness Award at the annual 1st Heywood Crimble Croft Brownies awards.
Heidi was chosen for constantly being supportive of her fellow Brownies, always cheering everyone on and looking after other girls within the unit, combined with general kindness and a caring attitude.
The award is named in memory of volunteer Denise Webb, who died in December 2015 after a long battle with cancer.
Heidi was presented with winning a certificate, a prize and the Denise Webb Shield by Denise’s husband, Michael.
Upon receiving the award, Heidi said: “I feel really proud and happy to be chosen. I really miss Snowy Owl (Denise) and hope she’s proud of me.”
In conjunction with the award, Crimble Croft held a Pink Party and managed to raise £75 for Springhill Hospice via a raffle draw and name the bear. This donation was matched by Denise’s husband, which means Springhill Hospice will receive £150.
A spokesperson said: "Michael and Crimble Croft Brownies would like to thank everyone who helped raise the money and showed their support."
Denise Webb was a Unit Helper for many years with the Brownie Unit, Denise had a heart of gold and her kindness was everlasting. In her memory, Crimble Croft Brownies created the Denise Webb Award which is used in tribute. Each year a Brownie is chosen to receive the award by displaying similar characteristics, such as being kind, supportive and caring for fellow Brownies.
