Moorland fire in Littleborough

Date published: 12 April 2017

A moorland fire near Swaindrod Lane in Littleborough on Tuesday (11 April) was attended by eight fire crews and two wildlife units.

The fire was well alight when crews arrived, with firefighters using beaters, forced air units and two hose reels to reduce the scale of the fire.

By the time daylight began to fade the fire had been brought under control and all firefighters had retreated off of the moorland.

The scene was checked again when the sun came up and the incident was closed after around twelve hours of attendance.
