The Greater Manchester Walking Festival 2017

Date published: 11 April 2017

The Greater Manchester Walking Festival 2017 kicks off on Monday 1 May offering over 300 free guided walks across the region.

Whether it is a ghost walk, art walk, urban heritage walk, a walk for families, or a more challenging walk out in the hills, there is
something for everyone.

Carragh Teague, Walking Lead at Transport for Greater Manchester, said: "We’re very excited by this year’s festival as it’s grown considerably from previous years and offers a wide range of walks.

"This is a great opportunity to explore areas further afield than your own doorstep and we’ve tried to include as many walks as possible that are easily reached by public transport for that reason.

"With walking considered to be one of the most effective exercises for improving your physical and mental health, as well as a great way to meet new people and explore new places, now’s the time to put your best foot forward and see what walking can offer you."

These events are coordinated by Transport for Greater Manchester and delivered by walking groups, organisations and individuals across the region.
