Take a first look inside Maggie's cancer care centre

Date published: 10 April 2017

People have been getting its first glimpse of the new Maggie's cancer care centre after construction scaffolding was removed from the site.

The building is currently under development within the grounds of the Royal Oldham Hospital ahead of its opening in June.

It is predicted that the centre will receive 10,000 visits every year.

Those attending the centre will given access to Maggie's evidence based programme of support, including psychological support, benefits advice, nutrition workshops, relaxation and stress management, art therapy, tai chi and yoga.

The centre features a unique design by architects dRMM and gardens by Jinny Blom Landscape Design and aims to provide an 'oasis of calm' with the design incorporating nature, light and homely atmosphere.

The building itself will hover over a beautiful garden, supported on slender columns, with 'open air rooms' and a warm, welcoming kitchen for all to use.
