Crime writer David Mark books a visit to Rochdale

Date published: 07 April 2017

Page turning novels, gripping plotlines and fast paced narratives have become synonymous with the critically acclaimed work of crime writer David Mark.

Now the best–selling author is to visit to Rochdale on Saturday 22 April to discuss his latest work, Cruel Mercy, in the lead up to World Book Night.

Mr Mark has built up a loyal readership for his Detective Sergeant Aector McAvoy stories. His 2013 novel Dark Winter was selected for the Harrogate ‘New Blood’ panel, as well as being a Richard and Judy book club pick and a Sunday Times bestseller.

It will be Mr Mark’s second visit to the borough, following a well-received appearance at the 2016 Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival.

Councillor Janet Emsley, the council’s cabinet member for culture, said: “David was a big hit when he spoke at the Literature and Ideas Festival, so it’s great to welcome him back to the borough.

“The council is proud to be playing its part in the lead up to World Book Night, which brings together millions of literature lovers, united in a thirst for reading and learning.”
