Roch Valley Radio 48 hour broadcast 2017

Date published: 07 April 2017

Roch Valley Radio is once again hosting a 48 hour non-stop broadcast over the Easter weekend to raise vital funds and awareness in the local community to keep the Hospital and Community Radio station on-air.

The station is a registered charity which is funded solely by charitable donations and the fundraising volunteers do either through events such as the 48 hour broadcast or roadshows at local community events.

There are several large costs that we have to fundraise for during the year; some of these include the insurance for being in the studio, public liability for being out and about, licence fees and music royalties to broadcast music to the patients within the hospital, license fees to broadcast online, internet, telephone costs and more.

On Saturday 15 April from 12pm through to Monday 17 April at 12pm volunteers will present non-stop shows covering numerous genres of music, interactive quizzes, debates and more.

David Murphy, Chairman, said: "Our volunteers are excited to do this broadcast for the 2nd year running and have been talking about how they can make the broadcast even better than last year. Last year the station raised over £1,700"

Patients in Fairfield General Hospital can listen free via their bedside unit and if you're not in hospital you can download the Roch Valley Radio mobile app on (Android and IPhone) which is free, tune in online via the website to listen or even watch the studio webcams.

Why not support our volunteers by listening and interacting with the show during the 48 hours.
