Chevron Close residents thank councillors for new footpath

Date published: 05 April 2017

Residents from Chevron Close in Castleton have expressed their gratitude to local ward councillors Aasim Rashid and Billy Sheerin for their support and help in providing funds to convert a grass verge into a footpath.

Mohammed Arshad said he was "really appreciative" of the local councillors input towards the betterment of Castleton residents.

Councillor Rashid said: “It is our responsibility to make sure that our residents’ issues are dealt with as soon as possible. It was necessary to have a footpath for local residents at Chevron Close. The grass verge was a safety issue for pedestrians, especially during bad weather.”

Councillor Sheerin emphasised: “It is our responsibility to help our residents as much as we are able to.”

The councillors, who both refused to take the highly controversial 34% increase in councillors' allowances, said that they will continue to help and support residents with any issues that may arise in the future.
