John Ashworth-Holt sentenced to three years for possessing prohibited weapons

John Ashworth-Holt (24/09/53), of Doctor Fold Lane, Heywood, was sentenced to three years in prison for possessing prohibited weapons at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday (3 April).

Police discovered the weapons after visiting Holt’s home on the morning of 8 October. He was arrested and charged with possessing prohibited weapons after a number of unlicensed firearms were seized.

The 63-year-old was charged with 18 counts in total: possession of a firearm without authority, possession of prohibited firearms, possession of prohibited ammunition and possession of ammunition without a firearm certificate.

All confiscated firearms and ammunition have been destroyed.
