Fisherfield Childcare raises over £500 for NSPCC

Date published: 04 April 2017

Fisherfield Childcare’s Easter Fair at their Edinburgh Way Nursery was a real family affair, with parents, grandparents, siblings and even cousins turning up to support the event.

Attractions at the fair, on Saturday, 1 April, included an Easter egg hunt, raffle, cake stall, tombola and food and drink stalls.

The event raised just over £500, £70 more than the previous year. This will go to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), Fisherfield Childcare’s chosen charity.

Edinburgh Way Nursery manager Nadia said: “It has been a fabulous day, seeing families here today and staff having a good time.

“The money raised will help local children and a charity we hold close. We thank the families, staff, and especially the local businesses who have supported us including Planet play, Jitterbugs, Odeon Cinema, Strike Ten Bowl, Mischief Makers, Wilkinson, Rochdale Football Club and Flowers from Harris and Sons.”

Howard Munson, father to Edinburgh Way nursery attendee Rory, said: “It is lovely to see the ladies playing with the children. We have been coming here for the last six and half years, my daughter attended Edinburgh Way. The staff are great, they work during the week, and they are here on their Saturday to be with us while raising funds for charity.

“They could have quite easily put it back into the nursery, but they have given it to NSPCC Rochdale. So, we are thankful to the staff for making this happen.”

Michelle Worthington, mother of Mikey, said: “Mikey has been very excited and throughout this week telling his nursery friends my nanna and granddad are coming to see my nursery. He liked making his Easter hat and named the two Easter chicks Freddie and Eric, after his nanna’s budgies.

“It is great to see the nursery as I am usually just coming and going and now Mikey is showing me around as well as an excellent opportunity to meet the practitioners in a social setting is just lovely.”
