Grand opening of Rochdale’s pop-up cinema

Date published: 04 April 2017

The town’s half-term pop-up cinema received a warm welcome from families after opening its doors at Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre.

Over 150 shoppers enjoyed the grand opening of the centre’s pop-up cinema with free movie screenings of fun family favourites, including Finding Dory and Fantastic Beasts, on Monday.

Lorenzo O’Reilly, Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre manager, said the first day of the half-term cinema proved hugely popular.

He said: “We were delighted at the turnout on Monday.

“This was the start of our week-long event, so it was great to it kick it off with two brilliant films.”

Rochdale Exchange shopper, Sarah Williams, said: “The cinema was brilliant. We came in to Rochdale today to check it out and were really impressed. It’s a great activity for the school holidays and my two children loved coming to see Finding Dory.”

The special cinema is open at Rochdale Exchange until Sunday with showings at 11am and 2pm each day. To attend a screening shoppers need to present a receipt from any Rochdale Exchange store, dated after Saturday 1 April, along with their details to the cinema team. A valid receipt entitles entry to up to two adults and two children or one adult and three children.
