Rochdale Sixth Form College raised £1,210 on Red Nose Day

Rochdale Sixth Form students and staff pulled out all the stops for this years Red Nose Day and raised £1,210, which will go towards projects in the UK and Africa to tackle poverty and injustice.

Throughout the day, students sold home made cakes, sweets and 400 red noses. Everyone in the college was encouraged to wear red clothing to mark the occasion, and there were also extra incentives for the students to dig a little deeper. Students came up with a list of fun pledges for the staff to complete should a certain amount of money be raised.

Pledges ranged from not being able to use the lifts for a week, to providing a personalised waiter service at lunch times.

The day was organised by seven student union members and they were also responsible for managing the cash flow and the stock levels to ensure that the stall was replenished on a regular basis.

Jack Lyons, Student Engagement and Involvement Coordinator, said: “This was a fantastic achievement by the student union and I’m very proud of them all for their hard work and determination. Their target was £600 and they more than doubled it which is fantastic.

"It was such an enjoyable day and I’m delighted with how well organised it was.

"The Senior Leadership Team were all very impressed and as a group made a fantastic donation too.”

Ethan Marriott, President of the Student Union, said: “We would like to thank everyone at Rochdale Sixth Form College for making this event such a success. We all had such fun and to raise so much money is unbelievable.”
