Teams try to get maximum time in the Crystal Dome

Channel Four puzzle show The Crystal Maze comes live to Manchester this weekend.

Though long-gone from TV screens, the show has been turned into a live adventure experience and is open for puzzling at the former Granada Studios in Manchester from 1 April, after being a big hit in London.

Since 2015 over 100,000 people have been through the London maze, and tickets are sold out for months to come.

The Manchester Crystal Maze has bigger and better puzzle zones packed with new games, as well as old favourites from the TV show.

Once in the maze, groups of eight contestants are guided through four zones - Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Future - by a personal 'Maze Master'.

The contestants must then compete in a variety of games in four categories - physical, mental, skill or mystery, each designed to test strength under pressure.

The more games they win, the more crystals they get and at the end of their game, crystals are converted into time in the 'crystal dome', as in the TV original.

Tom Lionetti-Maguire, founder of the company behind the live show, said: "Manchester is such a melting pot, with so many brilliant characteristics - grit, wit and a damned good sense of fun.

"If the Crystal Maze is anything, it's undeniably fun, so I can't wait for people to see what we've got up our sleeve."
