Date published: 30 March 2017

A woman has been injured in a collision between a Vauxhall Astra and a Smart car which has closed Halifax Road near the Spar Garage on Thursday (30 March).

Greater Manchester Fire, Police and North West Ambulance are in attendance.

Traffic is backed up as far as Townhead lights in Rochdale and being turned around at the Spar garage near Smithy Bridge Road.

This has affected a number of Rosso bus services operating from Rochdale Interchange including: the 456, 458, 440, 446 and 464 buses.

A GMP spokesperson confirmed one lane closed at around 3.15pm and a woman has been injured.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed no-one is trapped in the car and their trauma technician has been working closely with paramedics following the two-car collision.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance said: “One patient may be suffering from shock who may require hospital treatment. Everyone is breathing and conscious, no one was thrown from the vehicles or trapped.”

A spokesperson from Rosso bus said: “There has been a road traffic accident between Rochdale and Littleborough on Halifax Road, near the junction of Smithy Bridge Road. Traffic is currently queuing back to Townhead, and unfortunately our buses are running delayed due to this. The 456 and 458 will be most affected, but there may also be delays to 440, 446 and 464 as we move into the peak hour due to queuing traffic.

“Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this causes you tonight.”
