Rochdale Sixth Form College students return from skiing in Austria

Date published: 28 March 2017

Rochdale Sixth Form College students have returned from their ski trip to the stunning alps of Austria where they spent six days learning to ski.

The 18 students who are all working towards a range of A level subjects such as maths, English, law and chemistry took some well deserved time out from their studies to learn how to ski.

Luke Hulston, who is studying chemistry, physics and maths, used his ski experience to complete his 'residential' for his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Anna Skinner, studying art and design, biology and physical education at the college said: “What a brilliant trip with amazing people and great skiing conditions.

"The local instructors were fantastic and really knew how to develop our skills to make the experience fun and exciting.

"Saalbach is a great resort for all skiing abilities with lots to do.”

Andy Harrison, leader of the trip and teacher of biology, said: “I’m delighted to say that RSFC’s very first ski trip was a great success. The students and teachers had such an enjoyable and exhilarating time out on the slopes. Everyone developed their skiing ability and the students were excellent ambassadors for the college.

"I am really proud of the group and a huge congratulations to Georgina who was voted our skier of the week.”
