School House Nursery celebrates first birthday

Date published: 28 March 2017

The School House Nursery in Middleton celebrated its first birthday with a fun fair party.

It is the first public event since comprehensive refurbishment by its new owners, Fisherfield Childcare.

Attractions included Running Wild, the soft play party centre, goal shoot out, face painting, princess and pirates pamper sessions, raffle, cake stall, tombola, food and drink stalls, and from Family Learning decorating Mother’s Day key rings.

Sumayya Nasrin, the mother to nursery attendee Sofia, age three, said: “We have all had a really good day and lots of fun. Sofia and her brother liked Running Wild, and Sofia particularly liked her pamper session with her hair and nails as well as playing football with her brother and dad.”

Nursery manager Sabrina Iqbal said: "The School House would like to say a big thanks to Sofia's mum, Sumayya Nasrin, for her lovely gift of Fisherfield Childcare birthday cake with fantastic fondant mascot characters.

“It was lovely to see all the families have some Fisherfield fun.”

“We feel proud to show off the nursery to the public, the renovations started this time last year, and we are in our next phase of exciting plans for our large outdoor space".

"We would like to thank the parents for their support, all the staff who have given up their Saturday to raise money for the NSPCC, and the people and companies of Middleton who have been so generous with their donations, including Milk Barn, Crawshaws the butchers. Village Green Hairdresser, Amigo’s of Middleton, and Hey Little Cupcake.”

Karen Wilkinson and Balqees Iqbal from the Family Learning Service who held a Mother’s Day keyring craft activity said: “We were so thrilled to be asked to celebrate the first birthday of the nursery. It was a fantastic event and a great opportunity for is to meet families. There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the event.”

The event raised just over £600 for Fisherfield Childcare’s chosen charity, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
