Health involvement day to support people with dementia and mental health issues

Date published: 27 March 2017

A health involvement day, with information and advice stalls from various health and social services care providers, was attended by over 100 people.

The event provided an opportunity to engage with activities and courses to be provided by Multicultural Arts and Media Centre from April, including its new Wellbeing Centre to support people with dementia and mental health issues.

The Mayor and Mayoress, Ray and Elaine Dutton, presented certificates to students who gained qualifications in filming and to creative skills course participants from Langley Theatre Workshop.

A group from Muscan, ALPS and EDI learning disability group and Ashiyana Carers group, and councillors Janet Emsley, Billy Sheerin, Cecil Biant and Sheena Yates also attended.

Mohammed Sarwar said: “There was excellent support for the event and working together to help service users in creative and innovative ways. A survey was also handed out to identify support and facilities needed for people with dementia and memory loss.”
