Marilyn Aldred has been appointed as Vice Chairwoman of Rochdale Primary Care Trust.
Marilyn is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Primary Care Trust but her new responsibilities will include deputising and supporting the Chairwoman of the PCT, Debbie Abrahams.
As a former member and later Chairwoman of the Community Health Council for almost 17 years, Marilyn poses all the necessary attributes making her a creditable candidate for the job.
It was from her involvement with the Community Health Council where her interest regarding the provision of health services in Rochdale arose.
Marilyn said of her new position, “I am very honoured to be asked by Debbie to fulfil this important role. I am looking forward to the added responsibilities and will continue to use any influence that I may have to ensure that Rochdale residents receive the best healthcare possible.”
Over the years Marilyn has been dedicated to working in the community and has contributed to a wealth of community initiatives, as well as being chairwoman for the following community groups; Rochdale Citizen’s Advice Centre, Littleborough Nursing Association, The Shorehurst Trust and a member of the Littleborough Civic Trust.
Marilyn’s current employment at a Teenage Contraception Advice Clinic has provided her with an insight into the importance of providing high quality health services that are appropriate to people’s needs.
Debbie Abrahams, Chairwoman of Rochdale Primary Care Trust said; “I am delighted that Marilyn has agreed to become my Vice Chairwoman. She has been an invaluable member of the Trust Board for nearly 4 years and I am confident that she will prove her worth in this new role.”
Marilyn succeeds Lyndon Price who retired from the Primary Care Trust in December 2005 after over 20 years service to the NHS.
