TH96 run in memory of Tom Hardman

The fourth TH96 event between the four cricket clubs where the late Tom Hardman played took place on Saturday (11 March).

Tom, a former pupil at Holy Family RC and CE College, was a gifted batsman and bowler who played for Middleton Cricket Club and the Lancashire second team prior to his sudden death aged just 21 in November 2012.

The entrants completed the nine mile course from Rochdale CC to Norden CC, from Norden to Heywood CC, and then Heywood CC to Middleton CC.

A spokesperson said: "Over 230 entrants signed up, which is testament to what kind of a person Tom was - a true legend who was loved and respected by everyone who was fortunate to have met him."

All money raised goes to 'Cardiac Risk in the Young'(CRY).

Since its formation in 1995, CRY has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD.

CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds fast track referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.
